Mrs Cromwell's Cookbook

Stuart Orme gives a short intoduction and reads extracts from Mrs Cromwell's Cookbook, written in 1664.

The book—it's full title being The Court & Kitchen of Elizabeth, Commonly called Joan Cromwel, the Wife of the Late Userper—was written as an attempt to discredit the Cromwells as being unfit to rule the country. It begins with essays showing how mean and niggardly she was in her housekeeping, but goes on to give 102 recipes.
